Psoriasis is a condition that is mainly associated with cell regeneration than anything else. Under normal circumstances, the human body will replace dead skin cells with fresh cells within a period of 2 days. But when a person suffers from psoriasis, this replacement duration is accelerated to the new skin being ready in three to four days. This leads to an extra accumulation of skin cells in affected areas. Psoriasis is well known to be a hereditary condition and is more commonly noticed on the knee caps, elbows, scalp and areas behind the ears; however, they can also affect the genitals and underarms at times. The affected areas are usually itchy and painful.
